The Wombat 100 was launched in 2007 and within three years, became one of the premier marathon events in Victoria. After a break in 2011 to allow the event to move back to its preferred month of April - the Wombat 100 is back in 2012!
With assistance from the Wombat Mountain Bike Club, the Wombat 100 features some of the best single track riding in Victoria. The event is staged from the picturesque Cammeray Waters at Woodend, only 60km from central Melbourne and 40 minutes from the airport.
The Wombat State Forest, located just outside of Woodend hosts a world class marathon course that includes over 50% flowing single track (including the famous Wombat track), fast fire trail, pine forest single track and 4WD trails. No tarmac, guaranteed! Riders have the option to ride the full 100km or the 50km half course. There is also an 18km course for junior riders under the age of 16 years
New for 2012, the Wombat 100 is the only event in Victoria to form part of the popular Real Insurance XCM series - combining some of the biggest 100km events in Australia into a competitive marathon series. With rankings and some big prize money up for grabs, this is an opportunity for all the Victorians to build up some series points before heading over to NSW to race in the remaining XCM events.
