Multi Sport Race Rules:

1.0 General:

1.1        The Race Director reserves the right to reject any entry

1.2        Competitors must render assistance to any fellow competitor in distress or any form of danger.

1.3        It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure their equipment is in safe working condition.

1.4        Any competitor retiring from the course must notify the nearest official as soon as possible. It is the responsibly of the contestant to notify the Race Director/official if they decide to withdrawal from the race at any time. Due to safety procures it is essential that race officials know where contestants are on the course at all times.

1.5        Any competitor, who retires or requires transport out of a stage, will not be able to continue to race. Relay teams will be able to continue at the next stage after checking with officials and timekeeper, but will not qualify as finishers.

1.6        Competitors must wear their issued race bib or show their race number in the required method per race, which must be visible at all times.

1.7        Competitors must be self-sufficient and carry own fluids/energy foods and equipment for repairs between transition areas.

1.8        All competitors MUST obey any direction given by an official. Course marshals have the authority to disqualify participants.

1.9        Good sport-person-like conduct will be demanded of all contestants. Using abusive language or behaviour towards any official, spectator or other competitor will NOT be tolerated.

1.10    No person may take part in the event who is not named on the official entry form, or has not signed the official entry form. Relay teams must nominate who is competing in which stage prior to race start.

1.11    Competitors and support crews must obey all road rules and give way to any pedestrians.

1.12    A competitor may be disqualified for failing to follow the prescribed course, including short-cutting corners or the crossing to the outside of a designated line boundary.

1.13    Disqualification or a time penalty may be given to a competitors leaving equipment or discarded articles of equipment on the course e.g. tyres, bottles. Discarded items must be placed safely off the course in a manner not likely to jeopardise the safety and welfare of a competitor or other person. Personal clothing and equipment must be placed in the individual’s storage area in the transition area.

1.14    The follow items are prohibited from use or carriage on the racecourse; glass containers.

1.15    A competitor must not interfere with another competitor’s equipment in the transition area. When accidental interference occurs, the offending competitor must return clothing/equipment to its original state.

1.16    A competitor must not impede the progress of another competitor in the transition area.

 

 

 

2.0      Bike Rules

2.1           Competitors must carry spare tyre or tubes and kits to be able to carry out their own repairs.

2.2           Cycle Helmets must meet Australian safety standards and be worn and firmly secured until the bike is stationary inside the transition area.

2.3           Drafting will be allowed

2.4           Aero bars or any form of aero bars will not be permitted on the race.

2.5           Assistance from vehicles is NOT permitted. Friends, family etc may not drive or bike alongside contestant and food or other items may NOT be passed to contestants.

2.6           Bikers are required to heed directions and instructions of all race officials and public authorities

2.7           Participants may walk bikes where necessary

2.8           ROAD: Bikers on the road are individually responsible for following traffic laws and are solely responsible for the consequences of any infractions. The roads will NOT be closed [unless otherwise stated]. Competitors must stay in the left hand lane, as far left as possible at all times. Cyclist may ride two abreast and no more on a road. Cyclists must pass on the right of the slower cyclist.

2.9           MOUNTAIN BIKE: Dirt tracks riders must stay left. When another faster rider approaches from behind they call “track” or “rider approaching on your right” to alert slower rider and then pass on the right of the slower person.

2.10        Race officials have the right to reject any bike considered not to meet minium safety requirements. If bike does not meet safety standards, contestant will be required to correct problem before participating in race.

2.11        Competitors riding bikes have right of way over competitors pushing bikes.

2.12        Short cutting of course will result in disqualification.

2.13        Footwear must be fully enclosed

2.14        Bikes must be fitted with at least one front brake and one rear in full working order.

2.15        Competitors must mount and dismount the bicycle only at the designated mounting and dismounting areas at the transition areas/zones.

2.16        When riding the bicycle a competitor must slow and exercise caution when exiting the mounting zone or entering the dismounting zone of the transition area/zone.

 

 

 

 

 

3.0           Kayak Rules

3.1           Competitors may use any type of surf ski, kayak or canoe with fixed buoyancy.

3.2           All competitors MUST wear an approved buoyancy vest. Use of spray deck is advised.

3.3           Support crew may assist their competitor at the start and finish of the kayak stage. At no other time shall they render assistance.

3.4           Competitors who require assistance [from officials not support crews] may proceed without penalty. Paddlers who require assistance more than three times shall be disqualified, at the discretion of the race director.

3.5           Paddlers may wash rider other competitors.

3.6           Paddlers MUST wear closed in shoes for protection if paddler falls out - paddling booties or equivalent are acceptable.

 

4.0           Running Rules

4.1           No form of locomotion other than running or walking is allowed.

4.2           Competitors must take care when crossing roads and give way to all vehicles where applicable. Marshals will monitor major crossings and time penalties or disqualification may occur for infringement.

4.3           Competitors must be self-sufficient and carry own fluids or energy foods. Multi sport events do not provide drink aid stations along each stage. Competitors should have a means of carrying water such as a hydration pack or water bottle.

4.4           On narrow sections of the track slower competitors are required to give way to competitors approaching from behind. Faster competitors should call from behind and overtake with care.

4.5           No individual support vehicles or non-participant escort runners are allowed.

4.6           Runners must run within the designated course.

4.7           Runners must wear closed-in shoes.
