Yes the Ku-ring-gai National Park is open to the public 7 days a week from Sunrise till sunset. On entering the park you will have to pay entrance fees of $11 per car or motorbike (pedestrians and bikes are free).
You can also purchase a yearly parks pass:
Multi Park Pass (except for Kosciuszko National Park) $65.00
All Parks Pass in NSW $190
The Go Natural Multi Sport is accessible to all fitness levels and skills with the correct preparation. You will cover a total distance of 56km switching
between the disciplines of road cycling, kayaking and running.
Suggested training would be about 2 hours in each discipline per week and then build it up to
around 3-4 hours for each. We also recommend a few brick training sessions where you might do a one hour road ride followed straight away by a one hour paddle.
This style of training gets your body used to changing disciplines quickly. For any additional training advice please contact henry@maxadventure.com.au
The bike leg will consist of only two turns, both manned by race officials.
The paddle leg will not be sign posted, it is the paddlers' responsibility to be familiar with the kayak route. Please refer to the maps
for a detailed outline of the kayak leg. Vessels from the Volunteer Coat Guard will be stationed at Cottage Point and the entrance to Smiths Creek. They are there to
ensure your safety on the water and to guide you along the course.
The run leg will be marked with pink surveyors tape and red arrows. Race officials will also be stationed along the run leg to manage road crossings and to assist competitors where
necessary.
Go to the Entry page to enter online.
You will need your own kayak. You can hire a kayak from our sponsor Pro Kayaks.
Parking will be available at the start of the race in the Akuna Bay Marina carpark. Although this area is big enough for all competitor and support vehicles, we would like to encourage relay and pairs teams to share a vehicle where possible.
Parking will be limited to 100 vehicles at the Apple Tree Bay picnic area. This is where both the kayak and run leg finish. This will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. A further 50 parking bays will be allocated at Bobbin Head picnic area. It is a short walk from Bobbin Head to Apple Tree Bay.
No, competitors may use any type of kayak, canoe or surf ski with fixed buoyancy.
All boats must be forward facing e.g. no skulls.
Support crews are not compulsory but are recommended, as it is a linear course. [Starting at Akuna bay and finishing at Apple Tree Bay]. If you haven't got a support crew, team up with a friend and car-pool yourselves back to the start, at the end of the race.
Support crews can enjoy the premium facilities offered at the Akuna Bay marina whilst you are out riding. This includes a café serving scrumptious breakfast and coffees.
The fastest solo competitors are expected to finish the course in three hours depending on the conditions on the day. The back of the field are expected to finish within six hours.
The start will be located at the Akuna Bay D'Albora Marina car park off General San Martin Drive. The finish will be at Apple Tree Bay Picnic area off Bobbin Head Rd.
Water will be supplied at the end of the paddle and run legs (Apple Tree Bay). There will also be a remote water station half way along the run leg giving runners access to water and lollies. Make sure you fill up with water or bring enough water to Akuna Bay (start) as there is no drinking water available at the start of the event, or when you transition from bike to kayak.
As the course is a sprint type event, we will not be holding familiarization days. However you can paddle, run and ride any part of the course as long at the Park is open.
