Dirt Works 100km Classic - Full Results Now Available

St. Albans turned on a spectacular day for the 5th edition of the Dirt Works 100km Classic. 2009 turned out to be a year of records, with the first ever sub 4 hour time in the event history. There was also a sharp increase in the number of riders who took on the bridge crossing with over 200 riders making it successively to the other side.

BMC rider and World Solo 24hr champion Jason English smashed the course in a record time of 3h57:53 to take line honours in the 100km event. Jason was pushed all the way to the finish line by the BMC 100km champion - Matthew Flemming who recorded an impressive time of 4h00:32. Perren Delacour rounded of the podium in third spot but such was the pace that the top five riders all came in under the previous race record.

In the female elite category it was Maribyrnong resident and double centurion - Lee Schultz who took out the women’s event with a time of 5h18:46. She was closely followed by Vanina Vergoz crossing the finish line in a time of 5h22:48

In the 50km category another record was smashed when masters rider Paul Darvodelsky recorded a time of 1h50:52 to take line honours in the 50km event. Felicity Williamson, also in the masters category was first across the line in 2h11:03, giving her top spot in the female 50km.
