Kathmandu Adventure Series - Anakiwa - Results Now AvailableNews Date: 24th April 2012Outward Bound New Zealand invited the Kathmandu Adventure Series to be part of its 50 year celebration. And what a celebration it was with over 50 teams fighting it out in Marlborough Sounds, to be crowned the inaugural winners of the race held at Anakiwa. Teams kicked off with a Kayak leg in in and around Grove Arm collecting the checkpoints in any order before transitioning onto bike for a ride in the Forestry plantation around Mt Duncan. This was by far the toughest leg with teams gaining 400m elevation in less than 1km. As the going says what goes up must come down and there were smiles aplenty as teams pulled into the transition for the final run leg. This took teams along the world famous Queen Charlotte on an out and back course. First over the line was team R&R Sport Nelson (Nick Ross and Trev Voyce) in a blistering 4hrs 32min. The first female team over the line were Thighs of Steel (Helen Chittenden and Lynley Coventry) in 5hr 16min. Mixed team BC (Marina Buonocore and Brendon Crequer) rounded out the category winners in 5hr 47min, for full results click here
