Must I wear a PFD or bouyancy aid?

Yes, it is a condition of your entry that you wear this item at all times when on or in the water. There will be no exceptions.

Do I need to be an elite athlete?

The Max Adventure Paddle is open to all skill levels, certainly some fitness is required, but you can complete as much or as little of the course as you want.

Will the river be closed to boat traffic?

No, Georges River is a popular recreation location and will be open to all users, please be mindful of this when paddling.

Must I wear footwear?

Yes, enclosed footwear must be worn. You may be required to cover only a few metres on land to gain a CP or a couple of kilometers, so you may want to carry a pair of joggers just in case. This will also protect you from the numerous oyster beds and countless oyster shells on the foreshore.

Are there any boat restrictions?

No, you can use any boat you feel confident paddling in. Please bear in mind that the river is used by pleasure craft that can cause a large wash.

Can I use a kayak or kite sail?

No, paddling is the only form of propulsion allowed.
