MAX12/24hr and MAX24hr SOLO 2009

The Kathmandu MAX12/24hr and MAX24hr SOLO will be back again next year on the 19/20th September 2009. Entries will open early next year, so lock the date in your diary and get training for next years event.

22nd September 2008:

Unseasonally hot weather conditions greeted over 200 participants to the Kathmandu 12/24hr adventure race on the weekend.

The 32 degree C heat took its toll on competitors with a third of the field not finishing the 24 hour course. Those who did were saying it was the best course yet with a great balance between kayaking, trekking, biking and rogaining!

Richard Mountstephens claimed Australia's Ultimate Adventure Racer title from Hugh Stodart who was not able to defend his title. Richard crossed the line first in 15hrs 32 mins closely followed by Matt Keorber and Wayne Bradbury (Blackheart/Salomon). Follow the links for results, photos, photos 2 and race report coming soon!

The inaugural 12hour event attracted over 40 teams wanting a step up from the sprint races but not quite prepared for the 24hour event.

The event did not disappoint with Husband and Wife team Chris & Michelle Delaney taking out line hours in 8hrs 24mins. This was Michelle first race since having given birth to their son 6 months ago!

Brothers Chad and Ryan Armstrong (myworkplace.com.au) crossed the line 2 minutes later to win the male category.
