Central Coast Race Wrap Up

It was a weekend of contrasts. At 7:30am when registration opened the temperature was just above freezing and the grass was covered in frost. A stunning sunny day greeted competitors as they waited for the start. At 9am competitors raced to pick up their maps and collect 3 of 5 checkpoints before embarking on the first leg (a trek to the top of the ridgeline). Competitors then ran back down into the valley to transition onto bikes for a short ride back to the start.

By now the temperature was a very respectable 20 degrees. Participants transitioned onto kayaks and paddled down the beautiful Popran creek. This was followed by a very chilly creek crossing that took even the most hardened competitors breath away. A short run followed with teams transitioning back onto the bikes for the final two legs.

A steep climb out of the valley and across some green fields brought teams to some fun single track. Following some firetrails brought the participants to the much cursed about hike-a-bike that then brought teams back into the valley before a sprint to the finish line.

myWorkspace.com (brothers Chad Armstrong and Ryan Armstrong) cleared the course in a very respectable 3hours and 3mins on Saturday. However their time was smashed on Sunday by Team Semi-Shuffle (Oliver Gordon and Joel Turner) who blitz the course in 2hours and 47mins.

Race results for both days are now available. Visit the Results Page for more details.

Race photos are now available. Visit the Supersport Images Website for all the pics from both days.
